Sew Classic Clothes for Girls – Twirl Skirt

May 5, 2014

The first thing I made with my new serger is the Twirl Skirt from The Cottage Mama’s Sew Classic Clothes for Girls book.

The fabric was leftover from my Swoon Quilt/Rug which I thought would give me a chance to practice making clothes, use up some leftover scraps, and practice on the serger.

A couple of issues came up:

  1. I did not have enough thread, so it is kind of a mishmash of everything. (Note to self: buy lots of thread, especially more than just off-white!)
  2. I cut the top tier wrong so I had to just make do with it being shorter.

It was a good first project for me. I had it sitting on my to-do pile for a while, so at least I can say I made a skirt. My daughter reminded me of a prairie girl as she ran around playing in it. DSC_7519

I am going to tackle another pattern soon. It’s just a matter of choosing which one I am brave enough to attempt next!
